Our future

All-Time Quote

This is the first age that's ever paid much attention to the future, which is a little ironic since we may not have one.”

Well a lot has been said about our future and I won't be pretty repeating much of this.
Our future is just not there. Those who are now 25-30 years of age may never live to see their grandchildren. We all have to embrace death someday but I think that day is not very far away about 50 years from now.
A famous poem by Robert Frost goes like this-

Some say the world will end in fire; Some say in ice. From what I've tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To know that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice.

I am going to give 12 reasons why the Earth is doomed?-

1)More than a third of the natural world has been destroyed by humans over the past three decades.Another two-thirds will be destroyed in the next 50 years. After this how do you expect to survive?

2)Freshwater supplies have become scarce and polluted. Nations are blaming each other for food scarcity.

3) Using 1970 as a baseline year and giving it a value of 100, the index has dropped to a new low of around 65 in the space of a single generation. This Index denotes the level of pollution.

5) Between 1970 and 2002 forest cover has dwindled by 12 per cent.

6)We instead for investing in the security & welfare of our future are more interested in today's comfort cars and usage of fossil fuels.

7) We are more concerned how much the stock index fell rather than how closer we are inching towards death.

8) We instead of investing our time and money in research in reducing pollution are investing in new software for our computers and games for our iPods.

9)Most of people in U.S.A. think that pollution does not directly affect them? This shows our level of ignorance even in today's netizen world.

10)The level of seas has been continously been rising steadily since 1970 and if this continues by 2020 all coastal cities and by 2050 the whole world will be submerged.

11)Oscars are more widely seen in U.S. than any pollution-prevention programmme.

12) Instead of you doing about it you are reading this blog.

Now pep up and go and think in all the little ways that you can help your yet-to-be-born grandchildren.

that would be a very pessimistic way to look at things.

12 reasons y ur theory will fail

1)More than a third of the natural world has been destroyed by humans over the past three decades.Another two-thirds will be destroyed in the next 50 years. After this how do you expect to survive?

2/3rd of the earth wont b affected because conventional technologies based on fuels will become expensive compare to newer fuels once oil reaches $300/barrel

2)Freshwater supplies have become scarce and polluted. Nations are blaming each other for food scarcity.

the cost of de salination is about 50 paise/litre

3) Using 1970 as a baseline year and giving it a value of 100, the index has dropped to a new low of around 65 in the space of a single generation. This Index denotes the level of pollution.

again, no fossil fuels no pollution

5) Between 1970 and 2002 forest cover has dwindled by 12 per cent.

78% still remains :)

6)We instead for investing in the security & welfare of our future are more interested in today's comfort cars and usage of fossil fuels.

see point 1

7) We are more concerned how much the stock index fell rather than how closer we are inching towards death.

by the year 2050, medicinal science would pushed expectancy to around 200 years

We instead of investing our time and money in research in reducing pollution are investing in new software for our computers and games for our iPods.

games for our ipods?

9)Most of people in U.S.A. think that pollution does not directly affect them? This shows our level of ignorance even in today's netizen world.

screw the yankees

10)The level of seas has been continously been rising steadily since 1970 and if this continues by 2020 all coastal cities and by 2050 the whole world will be submerged.

we'll move to the himalayas 8)

11)Oscars are more widely seen in U.S. than any pollution-prevention programmme.

screw the yankees again

12) Instead of you doing about it you are reading this blog.

Optimists are badly informed Pessimists.

12 reasons that you have gone mad-

1)1)More than a third of the natural world has been destroyed by humans over the past three decades.Another two-thirds will be destroyed in the next 50 years. After this how do you expect to survive?

2/3rd of the earth wont b affected because conventional technologies based on fuels will become expensive compare to newer fuels once oil reaches $300/barrel

--Conventional technologies will need more help from scientists like me to become practical and cost-effective in producing same power as conventional ones but I am busy writing this blog to make more people aware of the dangers inherent in our future.

2)2)Freshwater supplies have become scarce and polluted. Nations are blaming each other for food scarcity.

the cost of de salination is about 50 paise/litre

-- Only desalinating won't help as there are too many oilspills to clean the water. All our waste goes into the sea.So we will have to purify the water more and If you drink all the water where will the fishes live.

3) Using 1970 as a baseline year and giving it a value of 100, the index has dropped to a new low of around 65 in the space of a single generation. This Index denotes the level of pollution.

again, no fossil fuels no pollution

--As I said that governments are not helping enough enviromentalists with funds. They should introduce compulsory environmental education in all BSc and BE courses so as to get more people on their side.

We never may have time to do away with fossil fuels.Remember we have only 50 years to live.

5) Between 1970 and 2002 forest cover has dwindled by 12 per cent.

78% still remains

--Not for long.Do you think what has not happened in the past 500 years will happen now.

7) We are more concerned how much the stock index fell rather than how closer we are inching towards death.

by the year 2050, medicinal science would pushed expectancy to around 200 years.

-- You are just hoping that this happens and someone said that engineers have a more practical outlook.Do you think without fresh air, food and water we will survive that long?

8)We instead of investing our time and money in research in reducing pollution are investing in new software for our computers and games for our iPods.

games for our ipods?

-- Yup you can play games on your iPod as I had shown in my presentation.

10)The level of seas has been continously been rising steadily since 1970 and if this continues by 2020 all coastal cities and by 2050 the whole world will be submerged.

we'll move to the himalayas

-- very impractical suggestion considering the population of India is burgeoning and is accelerating at the rate of 5% a year.

9) & 11) Find me one.

12) Yeah wtf.
